Site information

This site is a fanlisting and shrine dedicated to Christian Slater, brought to you for the Something New Challenge at Amassment. The fanlisting is run with Enthusiast and is maintained by Janna. You are currently viewing version 1. I wanted to focus on Slater himself, so I kept it simple and pretty!

Why rebel? This site is named Rebel because that's one of the words that come to mind when I think about Christian. On one hand, he's always had these rebel guy roles... he's always been kind of a party person and has had some problems with law too. But on the other hand, he's also dettached himself from many of the things that brought him down and has been a rebel about what hurted him. He's abandoned old behaviours in order to get better and that's why he's been a rebel all the way to me! Haha. Just don't mind me. I think it suits him and I needed a name for the site... I could have named it "HOTTEST MAN ON EARTH- THE FANLISTING TO CHRISTIAN SLATER", but we are trying to be serious here for a moment xD

Why Christian Slater? I've always been a fan of him. Since I was a little kid in the 90's I always remember watching his films and drooling over him. HAHA! We are being honest here, so I'm just letting this out...
He's always been present in some way or another in my life over the years, yes I'm that crazy Slater fan that would have had a poster of his face hanging on her wall, but I never got one :(. I like most of his works (I'm still on my way to watch them all though!) and my favourite film of his has ALWAYS been Untamed Heart, closely followed by True Romance because that film is just amazing.
If you want to know more about why I like Untamed Heart so much, you can go read my essay on it in the filmography section... whenever I have that essay up! ^^''

Don't think I don't know about his controversies too... I learnt about them not so long ago (I may be a huge fan, but I never stalk every detail about anyone's life D:). Do I think he behaved wrongly? Yes, I do. Do I think he's come to terms with all and even got to be a better person in return? Damn yes. So it may be a bit hypocritical of me to just go "Naah but Slater is a good man now!". But it feels like he's in better terms now with life, he is a feminist ally and has a brand new (sober) life. So... as a long term fan (literally, during all my life) I've chosen to just accept that humans aren't perfect and that what matters is that we accept our faults and try to be better. And I really root for him on that. So there's that! Now you kow that I'm a big Slater fan and that I support him, just as I would support anyone coming out from bad life choices and willing to change.

What is a shrine? A shrine is like a fansite, it's a website dedicated to a certain subject or topic you love, to show appreciation and offer different kinds of information and media. What makes it different is that shrines, usually, offer personal views or opinions about the subjects, besides the regular information, in the form of essays and you can find lots of reading material and also get to know more about the people who write them!

What is a fanlisting? According to TFL.org: "A fanlisting is simply an online list of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are), they are just a place where you can sign up with other fans."
